R.I.P. My Car

So it finally died last night. Somewhere between the time I went to sleep on Sunday and when I woke up Monday morning, the alternator decided to go. I was lucky enough that I was able to drive Sophia to school, get back to my house, then to a doctor’s appointment and get to work while the battery still had some juice. Of course, I didn’t get out of the new garage when all the lights dimmed (including the headlights) and slowed to a stop on Market street just off the Pike and Rte 2. I couldn’t start the car, there was a car behind me that I waved to go past me. Then he turned his flashing blue lights on. He soon realized that my car died and told me to get the car over to the side of the road. Eventually I got a tow back to my house where the car is parked in my driveway, a two ton paperweight.

My friend’s father has a couple of leads on a car for me up in New Hampshire. I just have to get there on Saturday. The hope is I’ll have a car by then. Until then I’m on my bike. And of course they’re predicting a wintery mix of snow and rain for the next few days. Normally I’d say when it rains it pours, but I can’t deal with a torrential downpour of sideways rain right now.
